4.　家庭社会環境 フィリピンでは家族のきずなの強さは尋常ではありません。また、人と人との垣根が希薄なために、初対面でもすぐに旧知の知己のように打ちとけることがよくあります。笑顔と笑いは日常生活の一部です。 厳とした社会規律は、もちろん、健全に機能しています。ただ、社会通念ということになると、かなり「ゆるい」そして「しまりがない」 大手のショッピングモール。手持ちぶさたの店員がボケーッと鼻歌を歌っている。 スーパーではレジの前に長蛇の列、空いているレジに応援のレジ係が来ない。事前周知もなく水道の本管工事、突然の断水。約束の時間に１時間くらい遅れても平気の平左の平左衛門。普通の光景です。 何事にも杓子定規でなくてもいいのだという人びと。おおらかで多様性のある人びと。フィリピンの一面です。 4. Family & Social Criteria T he bonds of family members in the Philippines are unusually close.  Generally speaking, the distance between people are so near with each other they are inclined to open their heart in minutes at the first meeting, just like kith and kin.  Smiles and laughs are here and there in their daily life. Rules and regulations have been working out, but when it comes to social customs, they are considerably "lax" and "loose." ３．自然環境 7100強の島々から成るフィリピン全土の１年の気温は20℃ から 32℃ くらいです。セブ島全体では、25℃ から 31℃ で、ルソン島のマニラと大差ありません。 フィリピンの多くの地方で、日本でいう「夏日」がほぼ一年中続くわけです。 日本はここ何年も異常気象が頻発しているとはいえ、春夏秋冬のケジメはまだありますね。四季の変化に人の心も移ろう。気温の高低は人の笑顔のありようにもかかわってきます。 北国よりも南国の人の方が、笑顔については勝っているのではないかな、 と思うのですが。皆さんはどのように思われますか。 3. Climatic Environment An annual temperature throughout the Philippines with 7100 and more of islands ranges from 20℃ to 32℃; from 25℃ to 31℃ in all over Cebu, almost the same as Manila in Luzon. There are many regions belonging to a "Summer Day," 25℃ at the highest temperature all thru the year, which is a meteorological classified grade in Japan. In Japan, unprecedented and uncommon weather has been of frequent occurrence for the past years.  The turns of four seasons, however, remain unchanged, thereby affecting emotions of people.  Furthermore, the rise and fall in temperature may be closely correlated with smiles. People in warm countries seem to smile and smile, compared with those in cold weather

２．宗　教 スペインはフィリピンにキリスト教（カソリック）を普及させました。フィリピン国民の約８割強がカソリック教徒です。 近年、教会の影響力が衰えてきつつあるという人もいますが、キリスト教が人びとの生活に深く浸みこんでいることに変わりはありません。 フィリピンは貧富の差が激しい国です。一日に3回の食事を摂ることができない人も多くいま す。しかし彼らの表情には悲しみよりも笑顔の方がはるかに多く見受けられます。 「明日のことを思いわずらうな。明日のことは明日自身が思いわずらうであろう」（マタイによる福音書　６：３４） キリスト教はフィリピン人にとって生きる糧であり安穏の源です。今日が楽しければそれで幸せだ。 2. Religion Of all the Filipinos, about 80% or more are Catholics brought about by Spain during its colonial period. Religious influence has been reportedly declining lately, but Catholicism roots deep into the lives of Filipinos just the same as ever. The Philippines is one of the nations in the world, with a wide range between rich and poor.  Although quite a few people cannot have 3 times of meals every day, they appear happier rather than unhappy. 笑顔にもお国柄が表れます フィリピンの人たちにカメラを向けると、たとえば１０人のうち７，８人がポーズをつくって笑顔で応じてくれます。子供も大人も笑顔に屈託がありません。このわだかまりのない笑顔はどこからくるのか。 「国民性」という一言で片づけてしまえばそれまでですが、その国民性はどのようにして育まれてきたのかを、チョットばかり「こうさつ」してみました。 人の気質を形成する４大要因 １． 歴史　 ２．宗教　 ３．自然環境　 ４．家庭社会環境 １．　歴　史 フィリピンは過去、３８０年強もの間、外国に支配されてきました。スペイン（１５６５年～１８９８年）、アメリカ（１８９８年～１９４６年）、そして１９４６年に独立。 各時代の支配者の圧政に耐えながらも、フィリピンの人たちは力強く生き抜いてきました。 共通言語をもたない異民族間で円滑な意思疎通を図るために大きな役割を果たしてきたのが感情表現です。笑顔がそのいい例です。 フィリピンとフィリピン人を的確に表現した言葉があります。 「フィリピンは中国とマレーの両足で立ち、スペイン人の心で感じて、アメリカ人の頭で考える」 （うまいことを言うなぁ！） （注） さらに、極めつけの一言ーーーそして財布の中身は日本円。 1.
